Hey Friends,
Just a quick note today as I’m recovering from a stomach bug. I threw up 5 times yesterday. Whoop! It wasn’t the funnest experience but tbh I did find something cleansing about it. Every time I get sick and then recover I want to tell everybody about it. I feel proud of my body for overcoming something. Good job, body!
Sharing a song I started writing earlier this week, for paid subscribers, below. The working title is “While the Ocean is Here”. I was feeling the overwhelm I think we are all feeling, whether we are paying attention it or not. The world is changing so fast and so much is unknown. I listened to futurist Amy Webb’s SXSW 2024 Tech Trends Report. I think everyone should listen to it. I didn’t understand every single thing she said, not being super-versed in tech-speak, but I had heard her interviewed on Brene Brown’s Unlocking Us. The two agreed you don’t have to be an expert (especially because things are developing so fast that no one is an expert). They said it’s enough to be conversant. They are both brilliant, so I’m going to take their advice.
One of the main things that stuck with me was that in 50 years, people would look back on everyone who is alive right now, and consider us part of Generation T. “T” for Transition. Because the changes that are happening now (specifically in biotech, AI and wearable devices) are creating a technology “Super-Cycle” that is going to impact every aspect of our lives in such a way as to make human life so different that there will be everything before and everything after. Naturally, it made me immediately start to miss the things I currently take for granted, so that’s what I tried to honor in the song.
It’s not finished but I like sharing things in progress. Especially in this case, where here we are, Generation T, all works in progress somehow.
